Welcome Swallow flies to Alpine

On 25 August 2015 Alpine Angus and Welcome Swallow concluded an agreement which will see the merger over the next 12 months of the Alpine Angus and Welcome Swallow programs. Alpine Angus principal, Jim Delany said that the merger of the Alpine Angus and Welcome Swallow programs opens an exciting new chapter for Alpine Angus.

Alpine Angus and Welcome Swallows

Alpine has purchased over 50 of the Welcome Swallow yearling bulls which will form part of bulls offered for sale as mature bulls by Alpine at its first annual spring bull sale at Rosewhite on 7 September 2016.

In addition, Alpine has purchased all of the Welcome Swallow embryo calves, due to calve in the next few weeks, providing a strong and contemporary infusion of genetics taken from the core of the Welcome Swallow herd and merging those genetics into the Alpine Angus program.

This is not simply a sale of bulls and genetics. What sets it apart is that over the next 12 months Jim and Suzy Martin will work closely with Jim Delany and Chris Oswin at Alpine Angus to make the transition for Welcome Swallow clients across to Alpine Angus and to assist Jim & Chris in the conduct of the Alpine Angus business.

Jim Delany, said that the expansion of the Alpine program to include the new genetics and the Welcome Swallow bulls would not have been possible or feasible without the commitment by Jim and Suzy to an active and ongoing role assisting Alpine Angus and continuing to service Welcome Swallow clients.

Suzy Martin said that she & Jim were very proud to announce the merger over the next 12 months of the two programs. Of particular importance to Jim & Suzy is that Alpine Angus have embraced in full all of Welcome Swallow’s warranty and back up service practices and are committed to servicing Welcome Swallow clients in the way that they are accustomed to.

Suzy said that in initial discussions with Jim and Chris she & Jim found ideologically Alpine and Welcome Swallow to be an easy fit as there is a closely shared fundamental mind set about customer service and genetics. Suzy said that she and Jim will have an ongoing close role to play – particularly in relation to marketing and client liason over the next year and likely beyond. So with all of this a very strong team has been put together at Alpine and much has been done to create the pathway for clients – Jim and Suzy will be working very hard to do their bit to make this transition a great success for all!

To accommodate the Alpine Angus expansion Alpine needed some additional land. Alpine Angus has been very fortunate to not only find some land near Benalla to facilitate that expansion. Whilst keeping a local presence close to Welcome Swallow Alpine has been very fortunate to secure the assistance of Libby Skilbeck, well known for her previous Angus stud experience to look after the Alpine cattle to be grown out on that property.

The "flight" of the Swallows to Alpine will commence with a combined Alpine Angus/Welcome Swallow Autumn sale at Rosewhite on 23 March 2016 with 120 bulls being offered for sale.
